SURFILMUSIC traces Johnson's creative evolution, revealing how a life shaped by waves, friendship and adventure became the foundation for his music. Through rare footage from his early surf films, never-before-seen personal and family archives, and candid present-day reflections, the film uncovers the experiences that inspired the songs loved by audiences around the world.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Emmett Malloy, the documentary features appearances from surfing and music legends including Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Gerry Lopez, Chris Malloy, G. Love, Ben Harper, John John Florence, Kim Johnson and more. The film is accompanied by a beautiful original score from Jack Johnson and Hermanos Gutiérrez.
More than a music documentary, SURFILMUSIC is a celebration of creativity, connection, the ocean and a life lived with purpose.
